ACNE

Images

Your teen years are behind you, so what’s with the persisting acne? Unfortunately, acne will rear its ugly head (and whitehead and blackhead) whenever oil and dead skin cells clog fragile pores. You may already know that scrubbing too hard, using harsh chemicals, and picking at them can make the issue worse. Mild and gentle, the herbs used to treat acne can address inflammation, help clear up pimples, and minimize scarring. Use alone or alongside other treatments.

Soothing Aloe Vera and Calendula Facial

YIELD: 1 TREATMENT
STORAGE: NOT RECOMMENDED
TIME: 10 MINUTES

Calendula is a gentle astringent that eliminates bacteria while easing inflammation. This soothing facial stops redness and relieves discomfort while restoring skin’s balance and improving your complexion.

½ teaspoon alcohol-free aloe vera gel

½ teaspoon calendula oil

1 drop chamomile essential oil

1.In a small dish, combine the aloe vera gel, calendula oil, and chamomile essential oil.

2.Using your fingertips, apply a thin layer to your freshly washed face.

3.Leave in place for 5 to 10 minutes.

4.Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry.

5.Repeat this treatment once daily while acne persists. Follow up with your favorite oil-free moisturizer if needed.

Juniper BerryLavender Toner

4 drops lavender essential oil

1.In a dark-colored glass bottle, combine the witch hazel extract, juniper berry essential oil, and lavender essential oil.

2.Cap tightly and shake well.

Rosemary–Mint Facial Scrub

2 tablespoons white wine

1 teaspoon honey

5.Transfer the liquid to a small glass bowl.

6.Add the sea salt and stir gently.

7.Using gentle circular motions, apply the scrub to your freshly washed face.
