The faster you apply these remedies, the lower your chances are of developing blisters and peeling.

Aloe Vera Gel with Lavender

TIME: 1 MINUTE

Soothe and heal skin with this quick, easy remedy. Keep the bottle in the refrigerator for even more cooling power.

1 (8-ounce) bottle alcohol-free aloe vera gel

32 drops lavender essential oil

1.In a medium bowl, whisk the aloe vera gel and lavender essential oil together.

2.Using a funnel, transfer the gel back into the bottle it came in.

3.Apply liberally after sun exposure, letting the gel penetrate the skin completely before dressing.

4.Reapply at least twice daily while recovering from sunburn.

St. John’s Wort Spray with Calendula

This trio is the ultimate first-aid treatment for sunburn. Calendula and St. John’s wort ease pain and heal damage, while ultra-cooling witch hazel takes down the temperature of the skin.

7 ounces alcohol-free witch hazel extract

1 ounce calendula oil

16 drops St. John’s wort essential oil

1.In a bottle with a spray cap, combine the witch hazel extract, calendula oil, and St. John’s wort essential oil.

2.Shake well before each application.

3.Spray liberally on affected areas. Let the witch hazel penetrate the skin completely before dressing.
