Companies
Sequel Naturals: In 2003 Charles Chang (owner of his newly formed company, Sequel Naturals) and I partnered to produce a replica of the blender drink formula I had been making for myself since the early 1990s. I first began drinking it to help reduce recovery time between workouts, and it allowed me to train more and improve at a faster rate. I believe this was the defining factor that allowed me to have a career as a professional Ironman for seven years.
We launched Vega Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer in Canadian health food stores in September 2004, and the following year we began exporting it to the U.S. It’s now available in most health food stores and GNCs in Canada and the U.S., and it’s begun appearing in traditional supermarkets and pharmacies.
Of course, when formulating Vega products, I adhere to the nutritional and environmental ideas I write about in this book. They are nutrient-dense, high-net-gain, alkaline-forming, and plant-based, made by expending as few natural resources as possible to obtain their health boosting qualities. In fact, formulating Vega products is when I began to realize how tightly personal and environmental health was intertwined. The idea of striving to gain as many micronutrients while expending as few natural resources as possible—leading to the creation of the nutrient to resource ratio—came from my drive to develop a truly nutrient-dense, convenient, commercially available food product while limiting its strain on the environment.
The website includes recipes, informative videos, my recently published articles on health, nutrition, and environmental issues, and all things Vega.

ZoN Fitness: In spring 2010, Greg Holmes of ZoN Fitness, a Chicago-based manufacturer and distributor of sporting goods, contacted me. He had read Thrive Fitness and felt that my approach to exercise—a tool to enhance overall quality of life—was in perfect alignment with his.
We became partners and in doing so, I created a comprehensive written and video downloadable fitness and nutrition program based on my books Thrive and Thrive Fitness. This program is free (visit zonfitness.com to access).
I was delighted to align myself with ZoN Fitness, having longed for a broad mainstream platform to disseminate what I consider to be vital information, information that I believe should be taught in school—the practical value of greater fitness and proper nutrition for long-term health. As the largest distributor of sporting goods in the world, ZoN Fitness serves as an outstanding conduit for information to an immense and diverse audience. In Canada, ZoN Fitness is available at all Canadian Tire stores, and in the United States at most sporting-goods and department stores.
Visit the website for complete information about my ZoN Fitness program, ZoN fitness equipment, and to get the latest information on health and fitness.
