Over time, lack of sleep can bring more serious illnesses, which is why it’s important to look for solutions to the underlying cause of the problem, while these remedies handle the symptoms.

Chamomile–Valerian Infusion

YIELD: 1 CUP
STORAGE: NOT RECOMMENDED
TIME: 10 MINUTES

Chamomile and valerian combine to reduce the amount of time it takes you to fall asleep. Drink this infusion 30 minutes before bed.

1 tablespoon dried valerian

1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers

1¼ cups water

1.In a small saucepan, add the valerian and chamomile flowers to the water. Bring to a boil.

2.Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the herbs for 10 minutes.

3.Drink 1 cup nightly as often as necessary.

Hops Infusion

YIELD: 1 CUP
STORAGE: NOT RECOMMENDED
TIME: 15 MINUTES

Offering strong sedative properties, hops work as a natural sleep aid. Be sure to crush the hops well before adding them to the infusion.

1 tablespoon hops, crushed

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1¼ cups water

1.In a small saucepan, add the hops, honey, and lemon juice to the water. Bring to a boil.

2.Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes.

3.Strain into a mug, using the back of a spoon to press the liquid from the hops before discarding them.

4.Drink 1 cup nightly for as many nights as necessary.
